Abu Dhabi International Airport has officially rebranded as Zayed International Airport, as per directives from Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
The change took effect on February 9, coinciding with the opening ceremony of Terminal A. Etihad Airways, based in Abu Dhabi, is commemorating this renaming by offering special deals on international flights departing from the newly named airport.
The renaming of the airport follows the inauguration of Terminal A in November 2023, which serves as the airline's new state-of-the-art home terminal. Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer of Etihad Airways, expressed pride in Abu Dhabi as the airline's home and lauded the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, the UAE's Founding Father, for his vision. In honor of this occasion, Etihad Airways is extending special offers for guests traveling from Abu Dhabi to select destinations.
Until February 14, travelers can avail themselves of discounted fares for journeys between February 19 and June 15, 2024. Special fares are available for destinations like Bangkok, Osaka, and the newly added route to Boston. Additionally, discounted fares are offered for European cities such as Copenhagen, Munich, and Lisbon. During the celebratory weekend, passengers departing from Zayed International Airport will be greeted with gifts, entertainment, and special activities.
There are specific sections for families and dedicated check-in desks for Etihad's economy customers at Zayed International Airport's Terminal A. Business and First Class passengers also have access to special facilities that allow a more luxurious check-in process. Passengers may also make use of state-of-the-art biometric self-bag drop capabilities to speed up the check-in procedure.
The renaming of Abu Dhabi International Airport to Zayed International Airport pays tribute to the UAE's visionary leader and marks a significant milestone in the country's aviation sector. Etihad Airways' special offers further enhance the celebratory atmosphere for travelers departing from the newly named airport.
