Building on the achievements of the previous year, 2023—which coincided with the United Arab Emirates' National Environment Day—Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has stated that the Year of Sustainability program would be extended to encompass 2024.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the State, has declared the extension of the "Year of Sustainability" initiative into 2024, building upon the accomplishments of the preceding year, 2023. This announcement coincides with the celebration of National Environment Day in the United Arab Emirates.

The extension of the "Year of Sustainability" initiative reflects the UAE's steadfast commitment to realizing a future characterized by prosperity and sustainability for all.

Throughout the course of 2023, the campaign associated with the "Year of Sustainability" initiative effectively raised awareness about the core values of sustainability within the UAE. It successfully encouraged behavioral changes and inspired collective action to advance the fundamental principles of sustainability. As the initiative progresses into 2024, it continues to call upon all those who consider the UAE their homeland to actively contribute to implementing sustainable practices through a series of community initiatives and activities.

Under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, and Head of the Presidential Office, along with the supervision of Her Highness Sheikha Maryam bint Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the initiative will persist throughout the year. Further details about the upcoming activities and initiatives planned for 2024 will be disclosed in due course.

In light of this announcement, the Year of Sustainability team, drawing inspiration from the successes of 2023, extends an invitation to community members and entities to actively participate in shaping the initiatives for the New Year.
